Raoul Santos, D.D.S
I grew up in many places as the son of a Navy Chief Petty Officer. I was born in Virginia and spent my formative years in Florida, Japan and Washington. I received my bachelor’s degree from Gonzaga University and my DDS from the University of Washington. After receiving my DDS, I became a Naval Officer and served as a general dentist for 10 years with assignments in Spain, Pensacola, Miramar, the Middle East, Washington, DC and East Africa.
I attended orthodontic residency at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio, TX (UTHSCSA). After residency, I achieved Board Certification with two of my board cases selected for exhibition at the 2012 American Association of Orthodontists Annual Meeting in Hawaii. As a Navy Orthodontist, I served in Naval hospitals in Sicily and Japan. In my last assignment, I was an adjunct clinical faculty member for the Navy’s Advanced Education in General Dentistry and Oral Maxillofacial Surgery residency programs in San Diego. In 2021, I retired from the Navy after 23 years of active duty service.
Outside of orthodontics, I enjoy spending time and travelling with the family. My wife, Melissa, is from San Diego and is also in the healthcare field and a veteran (we met when we were both stationed in Sicily). We have two elementary-school aged children who attend St. Charles Catholic school.
